gnome-mplayer-dbg software package provides GTK+ interface for MPlayer (debugging symbols), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-mplayer-dbg
gnome-mplayer-dbg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-mplayer-dbg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-mplayer-dbg *
You will get with gnome-mplayer-dbg package name, version, architecture and description in a table
